Being Renewed

by Mark Weinrich

Some days aging
makes me feel
like I’m a cut flower.
How I miss the visits
of bees, butterflies,
and hummingbirds.
The welcome lift
of wind almost
convinces me
I can still fly.

Yet I’m reminded
that God renews
in spite of age.
He gifts
unbelievable vitality
to those who wait.
He will give me strength
to rise and fly, to run
walk, and not grow weary.
And as I wait
even on a day like this,
I know His grace
is on the way…
