In your email, please include a cover letter and mention whether your work is previously unpublished and whether it’s a simultaneous submission.

Please share a one-line descriptor of your work in the prescribed format. Upon acceptance of your submission, the descriptor will accompany it.
For example: In her poem, “I Am,” Rebecca Nestor reflects on Christ’s sacrifice.
Feel free to take a look at our homepage or Twitter handle for more examples of one-line descriptors.

PLEASE NOTE: Submissions which don’t have a one-line descriptor in the prescribed format and a third-person bio will not be considered. If you are submitting multiple poems, please include separate descriptors for each.

You are welcome to address us as Team Agape Review.

Include a short third-person bio along with your submission (mention your Twitter username if you have one). Additionally, you may include the links to your Facebook/Amazon page if you want them to get featured alongside your bio. If you are submitting for the second time, you don’t need to include a bio, unless you want to update your existing one.

Do I have to be a Christian to submit to Agape Review?
Ideally, yes. That said, we also encourage people of other faiths to submit Christian-themed writings to us.

Do you charge a submission fee or a subscription fee?
No, we don’t. Agape Review is—and will always be—a zero-profit magazine.

When it comes to fiction, what are the genres you publish?
All appropriate genres, as long as the story has a Christian theme.

When it comes to creative nonfiction, what do you publish?
By creative nonfiction, we mean personal essays written in a creative format, not articles written in a journalistic format. The former will be apt for our magazine.

Do you accept previously published work?
Sorry, we don’t accept previously published work. However, if it has been published on a personal Facebook page or blog, we would consider it as long as you mention it in your mail.

Are swear words and depictions of violence allowed?
As long as it is relevant to the story, of course. When we say we are a Christian-themed magazine, we don’t necessarily mean we accept only Hallmark-type content.

Are novel excerpts allowed?
Yes, novel excerpts are allowed, providing they can stand alone without extraneous notation.

When will my submission be published?
We accept submissions yearlong. If deemed apt for us, submissions will be published on a rolling basis.

Is there any limit as to how often I can submit new work?
No, you can submit as often as you wish.

Do you accept works written in other languages apart from English?
Yes, we accept foreign-language submissions, as long as they have an English translation. For more details, please refer to the FAQ below.

Can I submit translated work?
Translations are welcome as long as either you’re the original author or you have obtained the necessary translation rights from the original author.

When can I expect to hear back?
We aim to respond within a month.

Do I retain rights?
By submitting to us, you are granting us the non-exclusive right to publish your work electronically. You retain your copyright. If your work is subsequently reprinted elsewhere, please acknowledge Agape Review as the platform of first publication.

Will I get paid if my submission gets accepted?
Unfortunately, we are unable to pay contributors at the moment since we are a completely volunteer-run zero-profit literary journal. However, we will promote your work across social media.

Do you accept simultaneous submissions?
Yes, we accept simultaneous submissions. But if your work is accepted elsewhere, please be professional and withdraw your submission by dropping us an email.

Can I submit under a pen name?
No, please. We request authors to submit only under their real names and encourage the same.

Can I send my own featured image along with my submission?
Upon acceptance, your story/poem is published along with an accompanying feature image of our choice. If you would like to select the image yourself, you may source it from Pixabay, Pexels, or Unsplash and send us the link along with your submission.

If you have any further questions, please drop us an email at agapereview[at]gmail[dot]com and we would be glad to clarify.

I am a Christian fiction author who’s interested in being interviewed in your journal. How to do I go about it?
We would be happy to interview Christian Fiction authors, both established and emerging. If you would like to be interviewed by us, drop us an email at agapereview[at]gmail[dot]com

My book has been published/is soon to be published. I would like you to review my book in your journal. How do I proceed?
We are open to do book reviews written by Christian Fiction authors, both established and emerging. If you are an author, send us a book review pitch with your book’s blurb, word count, and other details at agapereview[at]gmail[dot]com. Please note: This is completely free, and the book review process will take up to two months. Please do not abuse this feature by retrofitting and presenting your work as a Christian-themed work.

Currently, our doors are open for Prose Editors, Poetry Editors, Interviews Editors, Book Reviewers, Film Reviewers, Graphic Designers, Podcasters, and Voiceover Artists. Prerequisites include a good command of the literary craft, an eye for detail, and a commitment to the ideals of our magazine.

If you think you would be a perfect fit for us, please drop us an email at agapereview[at]gmail[dot]com specifying the position you are interested in along with your credentials and we will be more than happy to consider you. Please note: Since we are a completely volunteer-run zero-profit magazine, we will not be able to offer a remuneration.
