Welling Up

by Mark Weinrich

I can’t believe the words
that well up from the depths
of my being. I know they are
a blend of praise and joy.

Sometimes I’m carried away
in grace, and my thoughts startle
me with wonder, thoughts obviously
not of my making, but spilling over
from gratitude for my Lord.

I love the soothing surprise
as words and lines grow
springing up, welling up
from this uncontainable peace.
For I’ve relinquished control
and as I placed everything
within His hands, my life
is charged with creativity.
I can’t hold it down.
Unimaginable light
spills through the cracks
of this broken vessel.
