Erasure Psalms

by Jeff Santosuosso

73

2my feet had nearly slipped.
was envious of the prosperity of the wicked.
For there are no struggles in their death,

They scoff and speak with malice.
13 Surely I have cleansed my heart
    and washed my hands in innocence,
16 When I tried to understand,
    it was too painful for me,
17 until I considered their latter end.
18     I was embittered in my heart.
22 I was so senseless and ignorant.

    You have held my right hand.
24  my refuge,
    I may tell of all your works.

69

 the waters have come up to my neck!
I sink where there is no foothold.
    I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
I am weary with my crying.
    My throat is dry.
    My eyes fail..
Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head.
    Those who want to cut me off, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty.
    I have to restore what I didn’t take away.
you know my foolishness.
    My sins aren’t hidden from you.
Don’t let those who wait for you be shamed through me,

    Don’t let those who seek you be brought to dishonor through me,

Because for your sake, I have borne reproach.
    Shame has covered my face.
I have become a stranger to my mother’s children.

    I am the song of the drunkards.
13 But my prayer is to you, answer me.
15 Don’t let the flood waters overwhelm me,
    .16 Answer me, for your loving kindness is good.
        I looked for some
    for comforters, but I found none.
21     In my thirst, they gave me vinegar to drink
29 But I am in pain and distress.

30 I will praise the name with a song,
    and with thanksgiving..
    You who seek, let your heart live.
33

102

Hear my prayer,

For My bones are burned as a torch.
    for I forget to eat my bread.
    my bones stick to my skin.
I have eaten ashes like bread,
    and mixed my drink with tears,
10      12 But you, will remain forever;

    Yes, the set time has come.
14 For your servants take pleasure in her stones,
    and have pity on her dust.
15  18 This will be written for the generation to come.
    A people which will be created will praise

22 when the peoples are gathered together,
    28 The children will continue.
    Their offspring will be established.”

84 How lovely are your dwellings,

Yes, the sparrow has found a home,
    and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young,

Blessed are those who dwell in your house.
    Blessed are those whose strength is in you,

Passing through the valley of Weeping, they make it a place of springs.
    Yes, the autumn rain covers it with blessings.
They go from strength to strength.
    hear my prayer.
        look at the face of your anointed.
10 For a day in your house is a sun and a shield.
    .
12

136 Give thanks
    for loving kindness endures forever.
Give thanks to the earth above the waters;
    for loving kindness endures forever:
to the great lights;
    for loving kindness endures forever:
the sun to rule by day;
    for loving kindness endures forever;
the moon and stars to rule by night;
    for loving kindness endures forever:
10 to 23 who remembered us in our low estate;
    for loving kindness endures forever;
25 who gives food to every creature;
    for loving kindness endures forever.
26 Oh give thanks    for loving kindness endures forever.
