The prayers of the godly avail much,
The LORD hears them, and answers to such.
He hears their cries and preserves them all,
Those who truly love God, like Peter and Paul.
Jailers could not hold Peter no more,
For God broke his chains and opened the prison doors.
They kept Paul and Silas close in their sight,
But the people of God knew His great might.
They sang to the LORD songs of praises that night,
And prayed to God, whose ways are always right.
God heard them and helped, delivered them that night,
The prisoners heard them sing during their plight.
An earthquake from God, shook the prison walls,
He shook the foundations of the prison as a whole.
All the doors opened, every chain loosed,
No fetters, no stocks, could hold down the bruised.
Our chains too, will be broken soon,
Suffering and pain will find their doom.
The LORD is always faithful, the LORD is always right,
The yoke of the LORD Jesus, will always be light.
