What Might Have Been

by Donald Zappone

(Maybe someday this note will be found)

Blessed are my tears
that once were alive
with love for my rabbi,
but have turned to salt,
constantly reminding me
of my betrayal
of the one who loved me
and called me friend,*
even to the
very end.

Judas Iscariot

* Matthew 26: 50
