That Vile, Walking Snake

by Jack D. Zeidman

Some say he walked upright, like Adam and Eve
The evil blasphemer, the father-of-lies
The vicious beguiler, who loves to deceive
Just eat of the apple, and you will be wise

Death and destruction, are his stock-in-trade
To ravage each person, and lay waste their soul
To dishonor God, and all that He made
To discredit the Gospel, that is his goal

Sometimes he’s subtle, subversive, and sly
On other occasions, he’s right in-your-face
Sinister products he’ll want you to buy
Clothed in false beauty, like arsenic in lace

He is a viper, disguised as a dove
A venomous blighter, prowling the land
Who revels in hate, and harbors no love
In league with Perdition, they work hand-in-hand

Resist this destroyer, and he will certainly flee
Pray to our Savior, there’s so much at stake
Study God’s Bible and soon you will see
The defeat of Satan, that vile walking snake
