The Cross Speaks to Me

by Jason Kirk Bartley

We’re going through this life,
not everything goes as planned,
we’re led and guided by God’s
almighty hand.
Yet circumstances happen and
pain sets in,
Maybe someone passes away, or
you are betrayed by a friend.
The cross speaks to all,
through the blood of Jesus,
we hear its call.
For Jesus’s blood would’ve been
shed abroad, if I were the only one
in need of God.
He still would’ve chosen to obey
and die,
if I were the only one to comply.
And when life is not always what it
seems, with twists and turns along
the way.
Jesus answered our problems by
walking with us each day.
So when you feel all dark and
drear,
Jesus took the cross so He could be
here.
It’s times like these, the love of the
cross speaks to me.
It enlightens my eyes, so I can see.
When death was all that seemed
so sure,
Jesus’s sacrifice keeps our hearts
white and so pure.
When you think you’ve gone too
far and all is lost,
you have only to look to Jesus’s
love that hung on the cross.
