The Thief

by Jason Kirk Bartley

He’s always unwelcome,
yet he makes his way to,
he’ll steal your joy for another day
when he is through.
He’ll dash your dreams and
destroy your plans,
make you blind,
and tie your hands.
He’ll steal the Word right out of
your heart.
He’ll get you going the wrong way
so over you have to start.
He wants to kill your desires and
murder your likeness,
get you saying bad things that you
really do not mean,
make you sin so you feel unclean.
He’s as a vampire who is sucking
Your endurance away.
He makes you feel as if you cannot
face the day.
He looks at you and hatred flows.
His destination is set and he
already knows.
He’d like nothing more than to
take his toll,
weaken you and steal your soul.
Away from Christ, you would be,
burning in hell’s torment for all
eternity.
