Above the annual outdoor service perched an unexpected guest. That mockingbird waited his turn to give the Lord his best. As the last notes of the choir’s anthem hung in the air, a voice rang out so vibrant, sweet, and clear. I wondered if he had been there all along, not just enjoying but singing their song. What possessed this bird that he was so inspired. It seemed he wanted to join the choir. His spontaneous song of celebration, rang through the courtyard to all creation. Who nudged this guest to rise and sing? Was it a reminder, a gentle word? That if we don’t share God’s joy the Lord will use a bird.
