When You Speak to a Mountain

by Martin Mburu

When you speak to a mountain,
It may move immediately as you watch.
When you speak to a mountain,
it may start shrinking, shrivelling, eroding slowly as you to the visible progress.
When you speak to a mountain, nothing may happen.
Nothing visible, no change. You have no energy to speak but to whisper.
Then one day, after ten years, you wake up to find the mountain gone.
It is never about the size of the mountain or how long it takes to move.
It is about who we become.
It is about us becoming like Him who taught us how to speak to mountains.
