Sometimes we’re baffled just like the disciples, when Jesus leads us into storms. Then we think His calming the tempest was just about us, but we’ve forgotten the second storm churning in the life of a traumatized man. I wonder if Jesus saw him even before He directed the disciples to launch out for the other side. There waiting in the most pitiful state was a naked man tormented beyond any other the disciples had ever faced. We remember Jesus casting out the legion of demons and the swine herd drowning in the lake. And here we see the second calm, the demon distressed man seated with Jesus clothed and in his right mind. Who clothed him? Did Jesus take off his robe? When we’re life-tossed and desperate it’s good to look around, to remember who is with us through this storm and perhaps who we may find waiting on the other shore.
