I know, Childhood is a rough terrain For a mother to navigate For her children But she has inner Resources of strength God-sent Through The happiest recollections Through sighs of relief Through The night of sorrow I could see Her eyes moisten slightly But a smile Played across her lips In sunshines and shadows She told me “Son, l can do anything So you can be the best So l won’t write a poem When she is singing With the angels in heaven I write it now, A poem for Mama.
