Two Hands

by Mark Weinrich

I blew into my cupped hands
to warm and ignite the truth
that when all is cold with darkness,
Jesus’ promise stands—
“..no one can snatch you from My hand.
no one can snatch you from My Father’s hand.”
Then He cupped his hands, saying,
“I and the Father are one.”

I am so glad my life is shielded
in His cupped hands, by His power,
by His purpose through love,
to keep and give eternal life
to all who trust Him.
I imagine Jesus’ smile
over His opened hand
and the brightness of His voice.
“No can snatch you from My hand.”
Someday in heaven I want to hear
those words and I will leap for joy,
as my heart leaps now.

(Based on the promises in John 10:27-30)
