Layers

by Audrey Samuel

My soul is exposed
Uncovered by life's dismay
Peeled gently, sliced thinly
Deseeded and juiced.
My heart is bare
Undressed and in a mess
Stripped of joy, love,and peace
Left plain and unadorned.
My mind is flooded with waters
I have drowned in my own tears
But God, through His grace,
Promises to make me whole again.
