The Joy of the Moment

by Mike Hall

My rush and hurry distresses my way.
Questions of how? now resigned to … somehow,
Too many thoughts for my mind to allow,
Just exhausted, dread and doubt holding sway.
My wish: enjoy the moments in a day –
Reveling, lazing in the where and now;
No longer pondering the why? and how?
Allowing myself pause to laugh and play.

Why not pause, take a breath, and ease my fret,
Feeling a soft breeze caressing my face,
Gazing at the clouds against a blue sky,
Delighting in a day-ending sunset,
Basking in the glow of this time and place,
All moments cutting my soul loose to fly.
