Following the Lamb

by Pat Severin

(Based on Psalm 25)

Hear me, Lord, it’s just too much.
I’m afraid I’ve lost my way.
Show me the path that I must take,
Guide me in truth today.

Life often gets the best of me.
I let the worries in.
Have mercy on my weakness, Lord.
Just how do I begin?

My dearest one, I hear your pleas.
When dark surrounds your way,
I’ll take your hand and lead you home.
Trust every word I say.

First, lift your eyes to heaven above,
I’ll hear each time you call.
Then hand in hand I’ll guide your steps,
I’ll never let you fall.

I’ll lead and teach you by my truth
and I will never fail you.
I’ll guide you forward on you way,
no evil will assail you.

When I, in darkness, go astray
and I can’t find my path,
the light of your unfailing love
will never lead to wrath.

Instead, forgiveness will I find,
relief from my distress.
For you’re my everlasting hope.
With you my life is blest.

There will be times I lose my way.
I’m weak. You know I am.
True clarity can only come
from following the Lamb.
