When I look in the mirror, I wonder
What’s yours?
These eyes, this nose, my mouth,
But these features don’t matter.
These eyes see in color,
Not a drug-filled haze.
My nose smells flowers,
Instead of sniffing cocaine.
These lips say I love you,
Not just words.
To those I treasure, they know
Not just my features but my actions that show.
Twice the person you were,
Loved beyond all measure.
I let love in;
He took me as His daughter.
Adopted, I have a dad
Who raised me,
Took me as His own,
And never looked back.
Not only this,
But I have a Father,
One who called me by name,
Showed me love, a new life offered.
Adopted by heaven and earth,
I have made a decision:
Wherever you are or whoever you might be,
In my heart, you are forgiven.
