by John T Kane
My fears and worries are allayed
Though I have wandered and delayed
And I don’t claim to know my way
But mercy's new each break of day.
A ship-hand cast into the deep
I know the Lord my soul will keep
And no more will I gnash my teeth
I lay me down in perfect peace.
My time no longer do I waste
Allow me, Lord, my soul to haste
And teach me, Father, to be chaste
That life eternal I might taste.
My pen’s ink is a bitter stain
For all that I may lose is gain
Yet still I sing the sweet refrain
Of triumph risen out of pain.
