by John T Kane
You are the Potter and we are the clay
In all we do and everything we say
Oh make us more like You Lord, day by day
And come again to us without delay.
You mold our words before we speak them out
Annihilating any trace of doubt
And howsoever one could do without
You, Lord our God, I'd rather not find out.
A tender artist You pour out your care
And over every fiber, every hair
You’ve spoken life and lifted, unawares,
Our weary forms into Your royal chair.
You are before, behind, with, in, between
The words unspoken and the things unseen
You’ve lit the dark, no filter and no screen
Can mask the sin in us; Lord make us clean.
A wheel within a wheel your world flies
On nothing. Painted in the skies
Your glory, God and there is no disguise
To hide ourselves when we look in Your eyes.
Do You, our master, take your pleasure here?
In broken jars of clay? Will You be near
When cracks and dry spots form on smooth veneer?
In fiery furnace, I will never fear.
