Worthy

by Janice M. Gibson

God locked his eyes of love
on me,
an exquisite diamond
lodged deep in the ground.

Tunneling through
clods of dirt
and sifting bits of gravel,
God uncovered
the gem
I would become.

With a manger and a cross,
God polished His plan
to secure victory,
making me
worthy.

Worthy to be a child of God.
Worthy to walk in righteousness.
Worthy to carry the light of Christ.

A diamond sparkling in the Son.
