Rock Bottom

by Jeff Kaspar

The bottom rushes towards your face
Faster than you believed it could
You keep falling over and over
Something you never believed you would

Yet the thought of starting over
Doesn’t sting like it used to do
The rocky bottom that awaits
Offers security to help you through

You now find peace and comfort
In that place that once caused fear
Because standing there on the Rock
You remember Lord Jesus is near

He promised to never leave your side
He walks beside you every single day
He will lift you out of that rocky place
He is the Life the Truth the Way

The winds can howl, Flood waters rise
Thunder shakes, Lightning splits the skies
The lion can roar, Let the enemy despise
This storm is not your end, nor your demise

Because the Rock is your steady ground
On His name you built your foundation
He died to meet you in that place
To be your Redeemer, Restorer, Salvation

Because He himself descended down
At the tomb He Himself hit rock bottom
Sealed in that stone He took up His Crown
He declared your name you’re not forgotten

Formed by love in His own hands
You are His precious child
Your home is not here on this earth
You’re not lost wandering in the wild

The middle of His heart is your true home
By His Blood alone you’ve been freed
He shattered stone when He hit rock bottom
Where He declared, Child, you’re free indeed
