Sunrise

by Rachel Anderson

The sky was painted with a multitude
of shades this morning. Pinks and yellows fill
the darkness, telling birds it’s time to rise.

They sing their morning tunes, awakening
the sleeping creatures unaware of dawn.

When I arise, I stand in awe of God’s
design and join the birds in singing praise.
