Umbrella

by Ashley Hoffman

Standing under an umbrella-
Of self condemnation.
Shame.
Repeated mistakes-
Seems there’s no escape.
Gunk, any junk, has taken claim.

Put down the umbrella-
It’s a religious facade.
Keeping you in its midst-
Blocking your Grace.

It’s all been conquered-
Buried in the grave.
You are freed and forgiven-
Given a new name.

Jesus- He made a way.
The bondage is broken.
The Kingdom awaits.
Put down the umbrella-

And let Grace rain.
